Simple Steps Counter is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.

data collection

Simple Steps Counter only accesses the following data from your device:

  • • Step Count Data: The app reads your daily step count from Apple Health (HealthKit) to display it in the app and widgets.

how we use your data

Your step count data is used solely to:

  • • Display your current daily step count in the app
  • • Show your 7-day step history
  • • Update home screen widgets with your current step count
  • • Calculate progress toward a 10,000-step daily goal

data storage

  • • All step count data is read from Apple Health on your device
  • • Simple Steps Counter caches step data locally using SwiftData for faster access and premium features
  • • Free users: Step history is automatically deleted after 7 days
  • • Premium users: Unlimited step history stored locally on your device
  • • Streaks, achievements, and trends are calculated from locally cached data
  • • Widget data is temporarily cached locally using iOS App Groups for widget display
  • • Premium subscription status is synced via iCloud (see iCloud Synchronization)
  • • No step count data, achievements, or personal information is stored on external servers

iCloud synchronization

For premium users, Simple Steps Counter uses Apple's CloudKit service to sync premium subscription status across your devices:

  • • Only your premium subscription status is synced via iCloud
  • • Data is stored in your private iCloud database
  • • No step count data, achievements, or personal information is synced via iCloud
  • • iCloud sync requires an active iCloud account
  • • You can disable iCloud sync through iOS Settings → iCloud → Simple Steps Counter

data sharing

Simple Steps Counter does not:

  • • Collect any personal information
  • • Share your data with third parties
  • • Send your data to external servers
  • • Track your usage or behavior
  • • Display advertisements
  • • Use analytics services

in-app purchases and subscriptions

Simple Steps Counter offers optional premium subscriptions:

  • • Payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple through StoreKit
  • • We do not collect or store payment information
  • • Subscription status is verified through Apple's servers
  • • Purchase history is managed by Apple, not by Simple Steps Counter
  • • Premium status may be synced across your devices via iCloud (see iCloud Synchronization)

data export

Premium users can export their step data:

  • • Export formats: CSV and PDF
  • • Exported data includes: daily step counts, goals, streaks, and achievements
  • • Export files are created locally on your device
  • • You control where exported files are saved and shared
  • • No export data is sent to our servers

third-party services

Simple Steps Counter integrates with the following Apple services:

  • • Apple Health (HealthKit): To read your step count data
  • • Apple CloudKit (iCloud): To sync premium subscription status across devices (premium users only)
  • • Apple StoreKit: To process in-app purchase subscriptions

We do not integrate with any third-party analytics platforms or advertising networks.

your rights

You have complete control over your data:

  • • You can revoke the app's access to Apple Health at any time through iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Simple Steps Counter
  • • You can disable iCloud sync through iOS Settings → iCloud → Simple Steps Counter
  • • You can export your data anytime (premium feature)
  • • Deleting the app will remove all locally cached data, streaks, and achievements
  • • Your step count data remains in Apple Health and is not affected by app deletion
  • • Subscription management is handled through iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions

children's privacy

Simple Steps Counter does not knowingly collect data from children. The app simply reads step count data from Apple Health, which is managed by the device owner.

apple health data

Simple Steps Counter uses HealthKit to read step count data. In accordance with Apple's guidelines:

  • • We only request access to step count data
  • • Data is used only for the app's core functionality
  • • Health data is never shared, sold, or used for marketing purposes
  • • Health data is never sent to external servers

consent

By using Simple Steps Counter and granting access to Apple Health, you consent to the practices described in this privacy policy.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app and on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date.
