PageGenie is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

information we do not collect

PageGenie is built with privacy as a fundamental value. We do NOT collect, store, or share any of the following:

  • • Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number)
  • • User accounts or login credentials
  • • Location data
  • • Contact lists, photos, or media
  • • Advertising identifiers
  • • Analytics or tracking data
  • • Usage statistics

local data storage

All data remains on your device and is stored locally:

  • • Reading List: Books you add are stored locally in UserDefaults on your iPhone
  • • Tags: Custom tags and organization remain on your device
  • • Preferences: App settings are stored locally
  • • Cache: Book data is temporarily cached for better performance

We have no access to this data. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed from your device.

third-party services

PageGenie uses the following external services to provide functionality:

google books api

  • • Purpose: Retrieve book data (titles, authors, covers, descriptions)
  • • Data sent: Search terms, ISBN numbers, book IDs
  • • Via: Cloudflare Workers (secure proxy)
  • • Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

openai api (gpt-5)

  • • Purpose: AI-powered book recommendations and natural language search
  • • Data sent: Book titles and authors from your reading list (for recommendations only), search queries
  • • Via: Cloudflare Workers (secure proxy)
  • • Privacy Policy: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy

apple storekit

  • • Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple's StoreKit
  • • We receive NO credit card or payment information
  • • Apple's Privacy Policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy

Important notes:

  • • API requests contain NO personal identifying information
  • • Your complete reading list is NEVER sent to external servers
  • • Only minimal data (max 100 book titles) is sent for AI analysis, without linking to your identity
  • • All API communication is routed through our secure Cloudflare Worker proxy

data security

  • • No data is sent to our servers (we have no servers)
  • • API communication uses HTTPS encryption
  • • API keys are securely stored in Cloudflare Workers
  • • No tracking cookies or third-party analytics

children's privacy

PageGenie does not collect personal information from any users. The app is suitable for all ages, but children under 13 should have permission from a parent or guardian to use AI features that utilize external APIs.

your rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device:

  • • Access: You always have full access to your data within the app
  • • Deletion: Remove the app to permanently delete all data
  • • Export: Premium users can export their reading list (CSV, JSON)
  • • Portability: Data is not transferable between devices (unless via export/import)

changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective upon publication in the app. Significant changes will be communicated via an app update.
